The Society's mission is to maintain a museum and to promote interest in local history and to preserve the artifacts, documents, and photographs relating to Iowa County, and to collect and to preserve the genealogies of Iowa County families. The Historical Society is now open to the public year round Monday thru Friday from 1pm - 4pm except for holidays. The Dodge Mining Camp and the Floyd School is open by appointment only by calling 608.935.5557. (The Floyd School is open Sunday afternoons July - September from 1-4 pm)

Trail founded in 1986: “The 44-mile Military Ridge State Trail connects Dodgeville and Fitchburg. The trail is open for hiking, bicycling, snowmobiling, and cross-country skiing. Bicyclists 16 years and older are required to have a daily or annual pass” (available locally).
